Dr. Eric
Dentist
Dr. Eric grew up in Pierre SD. He attended South Dakota State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree and Master of Science degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Science. After working as a biologist for four years, Dr. Eric changed his career path and attended the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry where, after long commutes, PB&J’s, and three little ones, he earned (with high honors) his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2008. He worked in a group practice from 2008 until establishing Unkenholz Family Dental in 2014. Having a passion for people and his community, Dr. Eric enjoys the opportunity to build a dental practice focusing on a patient’s individual needs, while at the same time, creating a fun and caring environment for all!
Dr. Jeff Olson
Dentist
Dr. Jeff Olson follows his father, grandfather and great-grandfather by receiving his D.D.S degree and practicing in South Dakota. He attended the University of Minnesota for undergraduate and was awarded his D.D.S. degree from Creighton in Omaha, Nebraska in 1988. He has lived in Rapid City his whole life and has dedicated a large portion of his time to giving back to the community. Dr. Jeff has been married to his wife, Lanette, for 29 years. They have two children, Avery and Jack. Avery is in her second year of OBGYN residency in Honolulu, HI and Jack graduated from the University of Nebraska with a degree in biology.
Dr. Mike
Dentist
Dr. Mike was raised in Northeast Ohio, graduating from the College of Wooster in 2016. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Ohio State University in 2020. Dr. Mike had a passion for serving his country and furthering his education leading him to join the United States Air Force following dental school. He completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency program at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi. Dr. Mike and his wife, Amy, were stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base where he served 2 years active duty as a general dentist. Amy received a degree in biochemistry and molecular biology and works for Lost Cabin Brewery as a brewer and quality control specialist. Both Dr. Mike and Amy enjoy everything about the outdoors including skiing, traveling, biking, and camping with their dog.

Hygienist
I was born and raised here in Rapid City. I graduated from Sheridan College with my bachelors of applied science in dental hygiene.
I enjoy the dental field and helping patients feel confident with their smile. When I’m not working I like spending time with family and friends.
JoAnn
Hygienist
With 40 years of experience as a dental hygienist, JoAnn is passionate about educating patients on the importance of oral health and empowering them to make lasting improvements. Known for her thorough and compassionate approach, she takes pride in creating a comfortable environment for every patient. Outside of work, JoAnn enjoys spending time with her two adult daughters and her Bordoodle, Oakley. JoAnn loves walking, hiking, gardening, and crocheting in her free time, always seeking ways to connect with nature and stay creative.
Lucia
Dental Assistant
Lucia is a dedicated dental assistant from Rapid City, where she has lived her entire life. She graduated from Western Dakota Tech; she brings both expertise and a passion for patient care to her role. Outside of work, Lucia enjoys spending her free time outdoors, hiking with her Berne doodle, ice skating, and skiing. Her love for adventure and the natural beauty of the Black Hills keeps her active and energized, both at work and in her personal life.
Eden
Hygienist
Eden grew up in Sioux Falls, SD. And graduated from the University of South Dakota with a bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene. She is passionate about dental hygiene and takes pride in creating a welcoming environment while providing thorough, satisfying cleanings for her patients. In her free time, Eden enjoys spending time with friends and family or practicing pilates! As an east river native, she is excited to get to know people from the rest of the state and is enjoying her time in Rapid City!
Jaedyn
Dental Assistant
Jaedyn moved back to the Black Hills from sunny Arizona, joining the team in 2025. She graduated from Western Dakota Tech as a Registered Dental Assistant and brings a calm, compassionate presence to every appointment. Outside of the office Jaedyn enjoys spending time with her husband Jordan and family, shopping, and cheering on the Atlanta Braves! Her gentle nature and friendly smile help make every patient’s visit a positive one.
Amanda
Front Office
From Wyoming, Amanda moved to Rapid City in 2025. Amanda grew up in the dental family as her father was a Pedodontist. As our patient’s first point of contact, Amanda creates a warm atmosphere for all!
When not in office, she is a mother to two amazing adult kids and a proud Nana to two bonus grandkids! She loves adventure, the outdoors, and discovering great food with her favorite people and has a passion for fashion! (an undeniable love for shoes)

Cindy
Back Office
Originally from New Jersey, Cindy joined the practice in 2025. As our Insurance Coordinator, with her 20+ years of experience she brings a wealth of knowledge, a caring heart, and a love for understanding and serving patients.
Outside the office, she loves spending time with her family, her beloved pets, Bailey & Sadie and shopping at Costco while also rooting for New England Patriot’s! Cindy’s kindness and attention to detail make her an irreplaceable part of our team.
